Key Investigator
Kamil Kopania, PhD, is an assistant professor in the Department of the History of Medieval and Early Modern Art and Culture at the Institute of Art History, University
of Warsaw and at the Aleksander Zelwerowicz State Theatre Academy in Warsaw
(the Puppetry Art Department in Białystok).
He is interested in the relationship between art and theatre in the Middle Ages, the function and reception of works of art in the Middle Ages, history of the European puppet theatre, and selected aspects of contemporary art.
Founder and chairman of the Podlaskie Towarzystwo Zachety Sztuk Pieknych –
a society whose purpose is to develop and promote 'Kolekcja II' [The Collection no. 2]
of the Arsenal Gallery in Białystok (www.galeria-arsenal.pl), one of the most important public collections of contemporary art in Poland.
Granted a scholarship from The Brzezie Lanckoroński Foundation (London 2005, 2010) and Institut International de la Marionnette, Charleville-Mézières – l'Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts de la Marionnette (ESNAM) de Charleville-Mézières (2011).
